Project Life: January 2017

January is always a strange month for me as far as Project Life goes. I’m always eager to get stuck in to the project for a new year, but nothing much ever seems to get done during this first month of the year – at least for me. The important thing though is I do put my pages together, even if it takes me a little longer to do so than it should!

January started off with the New Year, and the focus on getting back in to the swing of working after two weeks off – a hardship for sure!

My next page was mostly about the weather – a typical British talking point! It’d had got really cold, and we even got a little snow!

One of the thing I like to do each month is record some of my favourite things of the moment, so I often record the books I’ve read, the new TV shows I’ve discovered, as well as my favourite song I purchased that month. I find it really interesting to look back and see what I was in to during any given month.

I also love to document specific events that happen in my life. This final double page spread for the month documents the final days of our nightmare housemate, otherwise known as ‘Mr Messy’. He was a character all right, but one I’m glad I no longer have to share a house with!

If you’d like to watch the process videos for these spreads, you can find them all in my Project Life Playlist.

Project Life: Reconnect

One Little Word is not a project I’d ever really given too much thought to until recently. I knew of it, and found it to be fantastic and interesting idea, but I knew it’d never be a class I’d participate in myself. Much like when I was at school, I find following classes, even ones you can change up to be frustrating. It’s nothing to do with the classes themselves, which are always excellent, but rather my inability to learn in this way. It’s something I should probably work on!

In these first few weeks of the new year, I thought a lot about the changes I wanted to make in my life. Since moving house this past summer I’ve become a bit of a hermit, and hidden away from social interaction. The reasons behind that aren’t important, but what is important is that I don’t want that to be the case in 2017.

I decided to focus on one word this year that would help me change that – ‘Reconnect’. I want to focus on building my social connections up again, and ‘reintegrate myself in to society’ as it were.

Working with the Felicity Jane “Sophie” Kit, I picked a globe as my layout focal point, to visualise the connections I want to focus on, both close to home, as well as those who live farther away from me.

I kept the embellishments light, as is my style, and focused on nature, using flowers as well as birds from Pinkfresh Studio and Freckled Fawn.

UK Scrap Addicts: Love Tonight

Hi everyone! Guess what? In case you were unaware, I’ve joined a new design team!

I’m now a part of the UK Scrap Addicts Creative Team, and I’ll be creating layouts for their YouTube channel once a month.

The UK Scrap Addicts aims to promote scrappers from the UK, as well as scrappy businesses based here, such as kit clubs and shops. Make sure to check out their website as they have several resources pages dedicated to this pursuit.

Each month we will have one or two topics to focus on, which we will base our layouts around. This month our prompt was multiple photos. I decided to create a Valentine’s day layout – about a ‘date’ I took myself on. Typical me!

If you’d like to read more about this layout, and see additional photos, please check out my blog post over on the UK Scrap Addicts blog. You can find my post here.

iNSD 2016 Layout Share

Cast your mind waaaay back to 7th May 2016. That was the date of International Scrapbooking Day. I took the Friday and Monday surrounding it off work, and made it a long, scrappy weekend.

I had hoped to get a lot of layouts created, but once the frenzy of activities had settled, I had created a grand total of… four.

It’s not the number I had hoped for, but between all the YouTube hops I was taking part in, Inkie Quill’s Scrapstream and google hangouts I was a busy social butterfly, who spent most of her time chatting rather than scrapping. Whoops!

The first layout I created was for my Convention Chronicles album, and features Summer Glau. The photo was taken at a signing event at HMV way back in 2005 the day after the premiere. I actually bunked off work to go to this, the first (and last) time I’ve ever done that!

The second layout is my favourite and involved a lot of fussy cutting! I used the gorgeous Dear Lizzy Documentary collection for this layout, as well as some lovely metal butterflies I’d originally bought for a bag project.

The third and forth layouts go together, and are all to do with the aftermath of the weekend. These form part of my NSD Project Life spread.

The first features the very messy bed I was left with after a crafting (chatting) session.

And this one? Features a less than flattering photo of me after I’d stayed up all night – 26 hours in fact. I wanted a photo to really capture how tired I felt, and I think this does it!
